TapOut MMA Academy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
If your interest is in learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), then you will find no better than our Head Jits Coach Wiekus Swart.
Wiekus is a 2nd degree Black Belt and the second highest ranked Jiu Jitsu practitioner in Africa. He has built an incredibly strong reputation as a well liked and highly respected Jiu Jitsu expert and Coach.
Known as ‘the gentle art’, BJJ is suitable for all age groups and skill levels. Whether you are a beginner just getting into it, or a seasoned grappler looking to take your game to the next level, TapOut Academy is the place for you.
BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger and stronger opponent by using proper technique and leverage. Once taking the fight to the ground, our students are taught a variety of techniques including joint locks and choke holds to defeat their opponent.
For this reason, it is also a very popular art among ladies wishing to learn effective and realistic self defense techniques, and in Mixed Martial Arts terms, having a strong ground game is a vital element to victory. As many Mixed Martial Artists will tell you, most fights end up on the ground, and there is no better style than BJJ for preparing you to handle yourself in this range.
Your first lesson is FREE.
Classes are open to men and women from the ages of 14 and up. The majority of our students are between 18 and 40, with a few even younger and older!
BJJ classes at TapOut MMA Academy take place every week night from Monday to Thursday from 19.00 – 20.00 as well as morning classes on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10.00am and all skill levels are welcome. To book your place in the class, or if you prefer one-on-one classes, contact us HERE.
Class fees are R 700.00 per month and Private Sessions with Wiekus range from R 250 – R 300 per 1 hour session depending on how many sessions are booked monthly. Fees are payable in advance for the month.
What to wear & bring:
Wear any comfortable gym gear. We practice Gi and no-Gi BJJ so a Gi is not a necessity initially, but if you would like to purchase one, you can do so from us at a later stage.
Bring a bottle of water (although you can also buy at our coffee shop), as well as a towel.
If you would like to shower after your session, bring whatever you will need for this too!
Looking forward to seeing you soon at TapOut MMA Academy! It will change your life!
