TapOut MMA Academy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

If your interest is in learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), then you will find no better than our Head Jits Coach Wiekus Swart.

Wiekus is a 2nd degree Black Belt and the second highest ranked Jiu Jitsu practitioner in Africa.  He has built an incredibly strong reputation as a well liked and highly respected Jiu Jitsu expert and Coach.

Known as ‘the gentle art’, BJJ is suitable for all age groups and skill levels.  Whether you are a beginner just getting into it, or a seasoned grappler looking to take your game to the next level, TapOut Academy is the place for you.

BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger and stronger opponent by using proper technique and leverage.  Once taking the fight to the ground, our students are taught a variety of techniques including joint locks and choke holds to defeat their opponent.

For this reason, it is also a very popular art among ladies wishing to learn effective and realistic self defense techniques, and in Mixed Martial Arts terms, having a strong ground game is a vital element to victory.  As many Mixed Martial Artists will tell you, most fights end up on the ground, and there is no better style than BJJ for preparing you to handle yourself in this range.
